What the rule actually says

This one applies to you

Florida State University is part of the State University System. Florida requires every student who first enrolled at a public college or university in 2018-19 or later to demonstrate civic literacy before they graduate. Passing the Florida Civic Literacy Exam is one of the ways to do it.

The passing score is 60 percent, set by State Board of Education Rule 6A-10.02413. It is the same number at FSU as it is everywhere else in Florida. The exam is 80 questions in 160 minutes.

Most students find out about this late. Some assume a high school civics class covered it. Others reach the graduation check and learn they have one more thing to do. Neither is a good time to start.
